There are the aforementioned new animations, the character models appear a bit smoother, and there s less slowdown in the Dreamcast version (there is none in the PS2 version). For those keeping score, other than the slight slowdown here and there and a neat swimming effect in the first-person knockdown view that s unique to the PS2, there is basically no difference between the PS2 and Dreamcast versions of this game. Which is to say both versions look great play the PS2 version first and you ll be surprised the Dreamcast can keep up; play the Dreamcast version first and you ll be surprised at the smoothness of the PS2 port (which features more anti-aliasing than you can shake a stick at). The game also features new fighters, including some well-known celebrities (it s no secret that Michael Jackson and Shaquille O Neal are two of them they appear early in arcade mode). It also has a couple of extra multi-player modes. But overall, this game is just not much different than the original Ready 2 Rumble. It s definitely a fun game, and if you don t own the original, go ahead and put this one on your short list. Owners of the original, however, have little reason to upgrade unless the idea of beating a virtual Michael Jackson to a bloody pulp is just too juicy for you to pass up.
